San Luis Obispo Campus Cuesta College Art Gallery presents, "Thirteen: Photographers from Southern California," a compelling multi-artist exhibit surveying the diversity of practices among contemporary photographers. These practices include traditional and experimental techniques ranging from Polaroids, photograms and scanned images to electron microscopes. Using both color and black and white formats, these artists capture images containing alien Antarctic landscapes, surreal sinking ships, suburban nightscapes and the mood of motion. These artists employ a variety of stylistic strategies, encompassing sequences of juxtaposed images, the touch and vitality of gesture, color-drenched abstraction, introspective photo documentation, and photographic diaries and essays.
